On December 8, 2022, Foundin IP ran a webinar titled "Chinese Utility Model: Junk or Treasure?" where we shared and discussed the pros and cons of foreign applicants applying for utility models in China with intellectual property professionals from all over the world.

The Webinar attracted nearly 60 overseas enterprises and IP practitioners from Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea, including some well-known IP firms and leading enterprises among the world's top 500.

Mr. Hui Wang, the managing partner of Foundin IP, as the speaker of the webinar provided a comprehensive explanation of Chinese Utility Models from three aspects: prosecution, invalidation and enforcement, focusing on the trending topics such as the patentable subject matter of utility model, dual filing strategies for both Utility Model and Invention Patents. At the same time, Mr. Haoyu Zhou (Elliot), the partner, also answered online questions about the aforementioned issues.

This webinar provided IP practitioners with a new understanding of Chinese Utility Model patents, together with guidance for practitioners and enterprises on how to use Chinese Utility Models to protect their IP rights more efficiently.
